Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart has proclaimed March as Agriculture Literacy month.
Stewart says farmers and other members of the agriculture industry will visit classrooms during the month to tell the story about farming and the importance of food production.
Stewart says with more and more students removed from the farm, it is important for them to hear from those who produce the safe and nutritious food appearing in their lunch boxes.
Stewart says numerous volunteers will visit dozens of schools to talk about the positive aspects of farming and nutritious food production.
This month’s theme is: Our Food, Our Story.
