After spending a few days catching distracted drivers from Regina city buses, police say they’re not surprised there are more people texting behind the wheel than they can keep track of.
However they’ve been able to nab more than a few people guilty of using their phones while driving.
Inspector Lorilee Davies says they are happy with the result of “Operation Bus Cop” so far.
“I think it’s going very well,” said Davies. “There’s certainly no shortage of violators. We have already 16 charges under the Cell Phone Distracted Driving Law. And in addition to that, at least ten other charges police have witnessed.”
Davies says police will not pursue a vehicle unless it was made obvious to the officer a person was on their phone while driving.
