This morning on my way to work I noticed one of the city graders on the street cleaning off the snow. Hey, hats off to the city crews that go all night while we sleep to make sure things are a lot easier for us to get around the following morning. This grader was coming towards me on 4th Ave. when it decided to flip a U-turn at the corner of 4th and Pasqua. I had to tip my hat to the driver. I can’t imagine it’s easy flipping a U-turn in one of those things.
The trouble was, now I was driving behind this thing at a whopping 1o clicks. I was wondering to myself whether or not I was legally okay to pass this guy. The last thing I wanted to do was crawl my way to Albert St., which was about 6 blocks away, where I turn off on my way to work. The second last thing I wanted to do was have this guy grab my license plate number and call the cops. At 3 in the morning I know the cops wouldn’t be tied up riding city transit trying to catch people who text and drive.
The driver of the grader eventually came to a stop, which I took as a sign that he was giving me the okay to pass, which I did.
So, to the driver of the grader, thank you for the work you do at those ungodly hours, and thanks for the courtesy of letting me pass this morning!
