Less than 24 hours after being destroyed by fire, crews came in Wednesday afternoon to tear down the Travellers Building.
Built in 1929, the building has been vacant since 2001 and has been designated as heritage property.
It is not known what caused the fire as crews were on hand dousing the roof to control hotspots from flaring up.
A recent storm which brought blizzard activity into Regina likely didn’t help crews when they were initially brought to the scene Tuesday night to battle the fire.
Strong winds and wind gusts fanned the flames, making it appear difficult for crews to contain the fire.

Throughout Wednesday morning, a slow trickle of water continued to flow into the building to ensure it didn’t erupt into flames again.
The 1800 block of Broad remains closed to northbound traffic.
Officials say the route will remain closed until work is completed on the now-demolished building.
