I write this blog looking for a little bit of help. Earlier this month the Top 10 communities in the Kraft Hockeyville contest were announced. One of the towns announced is where I played all of my minor hockey.
Wilkie, SK is the true definition of a “hockey town”, and what’s happened in the last 17 months defines what Hockeyville is all about.
In October of 2015 the SaskCan Community Centre was hit by a fire. This hit the community hard, as the facility also houses the towns hall and curling rink. The local Senior team had to play their homes games in neighbouring Unity for more than a year. Parents from town had to make a huge sacrifice driving their kids to other towns just so they could keep lacing up the skates.

I should mention Ituna, SK also cracked the top 10, and you can read more about their story on the website.
