The Saskatchewan government has proclaimed the new Provincial Lands Act, putting the new legislation into force.
Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart says the new legislation updates and modernizes regulations to help economic growth and reduce administration processes.
“It increases time frames where significant investments are possible,” said Stewart. “Fproinstance windpower developments and things of that nature.”
Stewart says the legislation enables the government to impose immediate stop-work orders when land is being misused.
As well, the new legislation allows lease holders to use the leases as security for loans.
