The NDP wants the province to be more active in helping children in foster care across Saskatchewan.
Opposition critic Nicole Rancourt says the Children’s Advocate is raising concern about children in foster care.
She says the province must take more steps to overhaul the child welfare system since children in foster care are falling through the cracks.
Social Services minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor says three key areas are being transformed, including working differently with first nations, prevention, and renewal of the child welfare system.
She says progress has been made on all three fronts.
She adds necessary changes have been made to legislation and new initiatives to alternative interventions have been launched.
