The Regina Pats ended the WHL regular season with a statement 6-0 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Jonathan Smart’s goal midway through the first period was all Regina as the Pats won their 8th straight game to finish the season with a record of 52-12-7-1.
Sam Steel did not register a point, but he finishes atop the WHL scoring race with 131 points in 66 games while Adam Brooks, who had one goal and assists in the game finishes 2nd in league scoring with 130 points in 66 games.
Connor Hobbs scored his 31st goal of the season to break the record for most goals scored by a Pats defenceman while Austin Wagner scored his 30th of the year giving the Pats six players to hit that plateau with Filip Ahl finishing with 28.
The team will now get ready for the first round of the WHL playoffs which begin Friday at the Brandt Centre against the Calgary Hitmen with Game 2 in the best of seven going the next night.
