The Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital Foundation will be rooting for Saskatoon gamer Nolan Blackstock as he attempts to win $150,000 for the new hospital by playing board games and video games.
Blackstock is representing the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital Foundation at the Extra Life United gaming tournament in Orlando, Florida this week.
The event features 126 participants with a $150,000 grand prize for the winner’s local children’s hospital.
Blackstock says this event has been very popular, raising over $30 million since it began 10 years ago in Texas. The event raised over $8 million in 2015 alone.
Blackstock expects the competition to be very high because children’s hospitals are something everyone holds close to their heart.
He is one of 8 Canadians heading down to Florida, but the only one from Saskatchewan.
The tournament runs Thursday through Saturday.
