SGI is changing auto insurance rates, but for most there shouldn’t be much of a difference either way.
SGI says rates for light vehicles will match updates to the Canadian Loss Experience Automobile Rating damage rate group table which will keep rates in the province for vehicles in step with the likelihood of being in a claim and the cost of that claim.
Rates for 434,000 vehicles in Saskatchewan will go down by on average 2.58 a month with another 400,000 vehicles going up by on average 2.75 a month.
About 2,000 vehicles won’t see a change.
Minister responsible Joe Hargrave says the adjustments are revenue-neutral, and will not generate any extra money from SGI.
The changes take effect May 21.
