A public inquest into a 43-year old man’s death begins Monday in La Ronge.
Just after midnight on May 31st of 2015, Desmond Roberts was found unresponsive in his cell at the La Ronge RCMP detachment.
He was taken to hospital and then transferred to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon where he later died.
The Office of the Chief Coroner is responsible for investigating all sudden, unexpected deaths.
With an inquest, along with establishing all the who died, what happened, the medical cause and manner of death, the coroner’s jury can also make recommendations to prevent further deaths.
The inquest continues through Friday.
