The City of Regina and Evraz Place say a major concert will be happening at the new Mosaic Stadium at the end of May called ‘Regina Rocks Mosaic Stadium.’
Mayor Michael Fougere announced Bryan Adams, Our Lady Peace and Johnny Reid will be performing the inaugural concert at the new stadium on May 27.
Fougere said booking these artists will give the new Mosaic Stadium a great test run.
“This is fantastic, this event is something we’ve been waiting to have for quite some time now in our new beautiful stadium, I think all of Saskatchewan is going to enjoy this tremendous concert at a beautiful venue, I can’t speak enough about how beautiful it is, you look out the window here and see how gorgeous this new stadium is going to be, and with 25,000 here it’s going to be great,” Fougere said.
The test event aims to fill the venue at 75-per-cent of its 33-thousand person capacity.
The first test event at Mosaic Stadium was a football game between the University of Regina Rams and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies on October 1.
Fougere said that event proved the stadium is ready to go and May 27th will do the same.
“We will be ready, certainly we’re using a bus system we used for the test event last fall to get people to and from the stadium so we won’t have an issue, but this is what the test is all about as well,” Fougere added.
Tickets go on sale Friday, April 8th.
A total of 16-thousand,500 fans turned up to the first test event.
The last test event will be a Saskatchewan Roughriders’ pre-season game on June 10 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The team’s regular season home opener is on July 1 against the Blue Bombers.
