My routine when I come into work never changes.
My first stop is in the control room to check out the timing of the overnight show before heading to the back to our workstations. Once I get my computer fired up I make my way to the coffee room and brew up that first pot of coffee. Then I’ll sit and get all of my show prep done before settling in to write my daily blog.
5 A.M. is oatmeal time, so it’s back to the lunchroom to make some breakfast and catch up on the previous nights sports scores on the TV. Since Monday I’ve been missing one important ingredient to my morning routine…oatmeal.
It’s odd that I haven’t had any for three days, considering I stop at the grocery store everyday on my way home from work. I’ve made a list everyday of things to buy and for some reason oatmeal hasn’t been on any of the lists. Yesterday morning I made out a shopping list that had only one item on it…oatmeal. That’s it! One item. How in the world could I possibly forget the only item on my list? And, can you still technically call it a list when there’s only one item on it?
When I came into work this morning, I opened my locker and cursed. S***! There was no oatmeal in there! What an idiot. I spent over $50 at the store yesterday on stuff that wasn’t even on my shopping list and forgot to buy the only thing that was!
When I went into my jeans pocket this morning, there it was…the list!
Well, looking on the bright side, at least I don’t have to make out a new list today. I’ll just use the one in my pocket that I made out a day earlier. Now, if I can only remember to pull it out of my pocket!
