The provincial budget dominated debate in the Saskatchewan legislature again Tuesday.
Opposition leader Trent Wotherspoon called on the premier to stop a one billion dollar tax grab and roll-back his removal of grants in lieu of program to municipalties.
He says the municipalities are being put in a position to raise taxes and cut services.
Premier Brad Wall says municipalities enjoyed record revenue sharing from the province and now is the time to use reserves to cover a short-term need to help balance the budget.
Wall says the challenges are real but the government is not following the NDP lead of closing 176 schools and 52 hospitals and cutting 11 hundred long-term care beds.
