One-million dollars was donated to STARS Air Ambulance by Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance on Tuesday.
Wayne Black, President of Saskatchewan Municipal Hail said they wanted to do something special to celebrate 100 years in business, and felt STARS, who is celebrating their fifth year in the province has a special connection to them through the people they work with.
“Our board was unanimous that we had to do something special for our 100th anniversary, we tossed around a lot of different issues and ideas, but wanted to do something that didn’t upset the marketplace, recognized our farmer owners as a whole, and also wanted to recognize someone who does something similar to what we do and STARS fit the bill exactly,” Black said on Tuesday.
STARS, who was very thankful to be receiving the donation says the money is equal to about 100 missions.
“It all boils down to donations to help us sustain operations, 100 patients will be impacted with this very generous donation,” said Mike Lamacchia, STARS VP of Operations for Alberta and Saskatchewan
STARS also revealed Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurances’ logo on their helicopter to recognize the donation made.
