A Regina man is facing a number of charges after his strenuous arrest ended with him being tased Thursday afternoon.
According to police, it happened around 3:17 p.m.; officers were dispatched to a domestic-related call in the 600 block of Wascana Street.
Once on the scene, members learned a man had assaulted a woman.
They then tried arresting the man before he barricaded himself in a room and told officers he was going to harm himself with a knife.
Police proceeded to push the door open before the man became resistant and assaultive towards members. Soon after, an officer tased the man and took him into custody without incident.
They say he was taken to hospital by EMS, where he was assessed and later released.
Barry Apooch, 29, of Regina is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and mischief under $5,000 dollars.
Apooch will make his first court appearance April 27th.
