It’s just under a year until the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier takes over the Queen City, and event organizers are already looking for volunteers.
The curling event goes from March 3-11, 2018 and they are in need of more than 600 volunteers.
Anyone 19 years of age and older is eligible to sign up to volunteer, as long as they agree with the conditions — like contributing a minimum 30 hours and paying $100 for an official event uniform, among other things.
There are also some perks to volunteering. All volunteers get access to the famous ‘Patch’ with live entertainment and to the venue when not on shift, as well as an invitation to the volunteer appreciation party.
Rob Dewhirst, the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier’s event manager, said there are a number of volunteer areas out there — from selling programs and working in the entertainment centre to helping build the game ice with direction from the Brier’s head ice maker.
