I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter long weekend, full of family, food, and lots and lots of chocolate!
Thursday afternoon I was enjoying a show on TV when I heard a big clunk on the side of the house. It was very windy so I didn’t really pay much attention to it. I figured something was blowing around outside and just banged up against the house. It wasn’t long after that I heard something hit the back deck. I thought it was time to investigate.
When I looked at the deck I noticed a large shingle was laying there beside our patio table. Uh oh. I then checked the side of the house and found out what had made that bang. There were about 3 or 4 shingles between our house and the neighbours house. Apparently, these shingles were the source of the bang on the side of the house. On further inspection I noticed 3 more shingles on our front lawn. Someone was losing shingles at a furious clip and I was just hoping it wasn’t us!
I grabbed the ladder from the shed and headed up on the roof. Things seemed to be in order. There were no missing shingles. I had no idea where these were coming from.
I went back into the house to finish watching my show, but the rain of shingles continued. I finally went out of the yard to the park next to our house to get a good look at our neighbours roof. It’s a tall house, so I had to stand back quite a ways to get a good look, but when I did, I solved the mystery.. The neighbours shingles were getting blown off of their roof and ending up in our yard.
I was still picking up shingles from the yard on Friday morning, but at least they weren’t ours!
