A new poll from Insightrix Research shows the Saskatchewan Party is polling at a record low.
The poll shows if an election were held today, 44 percent would vote for Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party with 40 percent voting for the NDP.
Compare that to the 2016 provincial election when 62 percent of people voted for the Saskparty.
People were also asked for their views on the provincial budget with the words “disappointed” and “disgusted” topping the list.
Premier Wall issued a statement on the poll saying he is actually quite surprised and somewhat grateful to see his party still has a plurality of support given the tough budget delivered.
Wall says in the statement that the tough decisions in the budget were made to get the budget back to balance and keep the provincial economy strong. He adds the tough decisions made was not one where the government tried to win popularity, but do what is best for the province’s finacnes and economy.
Insightrix says historically, the party has polled anywhere between 54 per cent and 67 per cent.
