The Regina Police Service are warning the public of a new scam making the rounds in the city.
Some Sasktel customers have recieved a text or email this past week letting them know they’ve been sent a refund from the company – a scam known as “phishing”.
The link is erroneous, and is a method of stealing your personal information.
RPS Spokesperson, Elizabeth Popowich said history should be your first indicator when it comes to large corporations doing seemingly strange things.
“Something that looks as if it comes from a company or cooperation that you normally deal with, if that’s not their normal way of contacting you, nobody minds if you phone to verify or check something out.” Popowich said.
Popowich added the old saying “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is” always holds true in situations like this.
