Moose Jaw city council has set its budget for 2017.
On Monday night, council voted for a tax increase of 6.24 percent.
Mayor Fraser Tolmie says it is a budget which will improve the city’s effiency and effectiveness to face the modern-day challenges staring them in the face.
He adds the last four months have been very difficult especially the last four weeks when the government removed the grants-in-lieu payments forcing them to re-open the books.
As is the case in Regina, Moose Jaw citizens will see a letter on their tax notice explaining how the city lost millions because of decisions made by the provincial government.
