The province and the city of North Battleford are announcing compensation will be made available to around 700 people who got sick after consuming contaminated drinking water in 2001.
A fund of 3.3 million dollars which is split between the province and city will be used to compensate those under 18 at the time who contracted cryptosporidium, which causes diarrhea, stomach pain, dehydration, nausea and vomiting.
Settlements will start at 750 dollars with compensation being based on length and severity of the illness.
Claims will be made until November 25.
Those making claims must have medical documentation from the time of the outbreak and will need to swear an affidavit before getting their settlement.
