Regina’s Allan Blair Cancer Centre will house a new piece of artwork done by grade 11 and 12 students of Ochapowace First Nation.
The painting, titled Hope, Courage and Strength in English, is made up of three canvases illustrating a herd of buffalo on the prairies.
Elder and Artist, Michael Lonechild taught the students and provided guidance throught the process.
Lonechild said art is something that has always come naturally to him.
“When I was 15-years-old I believe that God gave me a talent to paint, he instilled it in my body and in my mind and soul, I couldn’t stay away from it. I had this urge to want to be a good artist.
The artwork will be installed at the cancer centre in the next couple of weeks.
