Monday after work I made my way over to Battery Depot to pick up that battery for my cable box that I blogged about on Monday. It should have been a quick trip, in and out, and it would have been if the debit machine was working. Apparently there was some trouble with SaskTel, which I already knew because our phones conked out with about 5 minutes left to go on the Flea market that morning. I tried my card about 4 or 5 times before deciding to head up to the 7-11 on Winnipeg and Victoria Avenue to grab some money out of the ATM machine. By the time I got back to the Battery Depot the debit machine was up and running again. Of course it was. Just my luck!
Yesterday morning Max and I went for a run at the dog park. On the way back I turned on to Lewvan and headed north to make my way home. Traffic was backed up in the left lane and wasn’t moving at all. Everybody was making their way to the right lane to avoid whatever it was that was slowing things up. Things were moving at a snails pace. As I got closer I discovered what it was that had things at a standstill. It was a City of Regina water truck, watering the trees on the boulevard! Really? Whose brilliant plan was it to water plants on one of the busiest roads in Regina just before lunch time? Obviously someone wasn’t thinking clearly.
That’s what the nighttime is for. When I was in high school I had friends who worked for the City of Lethbridge doing the exact same thing this guy in the water truck was doing. They did all their work at night so traffic wouldn’t be blocked up and people would be around. It seems pretty simple to me!
As I write this blog, a city crew is painting new lines for the crosswalk at the intersection right outside of our station. You don’t see them doing their job during the height of rush hour!
Note to city…water the darn plants on busy roads when there will be no traffic. Duh!
Today is McHappy Day across the country. Buy a Big Mac, hot McCafé beverage or Happy Meal and McDonald’s will donate $1 to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
I’ll be at the Dewdney and Albert location from 10:30-11:30 this morning!
