Yesterday after work I walked down to the Frederick W. Hill mall and made a beeline to the Marvel Beauty Salon. I wasn’t there for anything that had to do with beauty. They cut hair, they’re not miracle workers! My good friend Linda runs the training salon and is my “go to” lady when it comes to a haircut.
My impatience even extends to a barbers chair, so I tell her the minute I get there, “you’ve got half an hour.” We always have a fun chat. Her and her husband Lance are quite the travelers, so a lot of the time we end up talking about our various travel experiences.
The beauty salon is a training ground for those who have chosen a career as hair stylists and they come from all over. Yesterday, as Linda was cutting my hair, we were being observed by a student that came over to Canada from Vietnam about three years ago. Seeing as Linda is the pro, many times her students will watch her cut hair to see how it’s done. When I’m there they probably want to see how in the world Linda will take my head full of rock hard gel and make something respectable out of it. She nails it every time! Thanks Linda.
Cost of my haircut, including tip…$25. The cost of my wife’s haircut, including tip…more than $200.
And the winner is, by more than $175…Jamie Lewis!
