Regina’s outdoor Farmers’ Market is ready to go this weekend – the first official market takes place Saturday in downtown Regina.
And when Dee Kitsch of the Regina Farmers’ Market set the date, she probably didn’t think the weather would be this good.
The Manager of Marketing and Customer Experience says she can hardly believe her luck – especially with Saturday’s forecast high of 28C.
“In the past, our first outdoor market, there’s been snow….” Kitsch laughs as she recalls some of the first outdoor markets. “It’s been raining, or there has been poor attendance from vendors because the weather is just so cold. So I think this year, to really kick it off with beautiful weather is going to be a jump start for the whole season.”
Kitsch says we can all look forward to the market showing off a Saskatchewan flavour – from breads, to meat, to vegetables.
“So, all the vendors we have make their products themselves in Saskatchewan,” said Kitsch. “We’re proud to say and it’s kind of impressive when you look around the market and see how many different products have to offer these days.”
Kitsch says that’s the charm which keeps people coming back – some twice weekly to the Regina Farmers’ Market.
The market hours are from 9 A.M until 1 P.M., Saturdays and Wednesdays and Kitsch promises there are many new vendors this year – who will be selling interesting items from kombucha to kale.
The outdoor market runs through the summer and fall, until October 14tth
