All Saskatchewan residents with provincial health coverage will be receiving Health Card Renewal Packages in September.
Right now, eHealth is sending packages containing stickers that renew health cards for a three-year period, to December 31, 2020.
Shaylene Salazar, vice president of strategy, quality and risk management with eHealth Saskatchewan, says if your card is out of date, it could cause problems.
“The patient may have delay in getting non-emergency care or they may, unfortunately, be charged by the provider for their care,” explains Salazar.
To help ensure packages are received before health cards expire at the end of 2017, any resident with a change of address or family composition within the last three years should contact eHealth to update that information.
This year, packages will be sent to more than 670,000 households in the province.
All provincial health cards expire on Dec. 31.
