Last Friday I gave our lawn the first cut of the year. I just love that smell of freshly cut grass. Apparently, I love it too much. The other day I thought I’d drag out the lawn mower and cut my neighbours front lawn as well. Might as well put a favour in the bank, right? You never know when Max will need a weekend babysitter.
Well, it hasn’t even been a week and my back lawn looks like it hasn’t been cut at all. On top of that, there is a whole area along the fence that’s suddenly become the dandelion section. I don’t know where these darn things came from. One day they weren’t there and the next day they seemed to be everywhere.
I noticed some weeds popping up from our flower bed, so yesterday I thought I’d head out to the backyard and do some weed pulling to get ready for the flowers that I’ll be planting very soon. The dirt in the flower bed was so dry that I couldn’t pull anything out of there. I was trying to grab the weeds, roots and all, but all I ended up pulling off were the tops. I’ll give it another shot today, with the help of the hose to soften that dirt up a bit.
Today or tomorrow, I’ll make my way to one of the city’s greenhouses to grab some plants and get to work on the flower bed.
The Leafs are gone. The Oilers are gone. The Blue Jays suck. It looks like those plants will be getting a lot of my attention for the next little while.
