The town of Kelvington has a big day planned later this year to honor former Toronto Maple Leaf Wendel Clark.
On October 21, the town is holding “Wendel Clark Day” with many events being planned including a dinner at the town’s arena.
Event spokesperson Lorelle Holowaty says Clark has really put the town in east-Central Saskatchewan on the map…
“Wendel has brought so much to the town of Kelvington,” said Holowaty. “I think the biggest way that’s displayed is anywhere you go, when you tell people you’re from Kelvington, they will often say ‘that’s the home of Wendel Clark.'”
The original banner commemorating Clark’s jersey being retired by the Leafs will also be presented to the town.
The hockey club is replacing all those original banners and presenting them to the hometowns of players who have been recognized by the team by having their number retired,
Tickets for the dinner go on sale Friday at the arena from 6-8 PM
