The University of Regina has received a big boost towards restoring Darke Hall.
An anonymous one-million-dollar donation was given by a local family to go towards the restoration project of the historical building built in 1928.
Doctor Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor of the U of R said anyone that knows the family will also know their generosity.
They’re very humble people, and they have worked very hard for what they have. This is a very significant piece of their estate that they’re donating and so they didn’t feel like they wanted to take any public credit for it,” Dr. Timmons said on Thursday.
Doctor Timmons says to completely restore Darke Hall 12-million-dollars will be needed but with 3-million they would be able to re-open the building.
After today’s donation 2-million-dollars has been raised.
