The Saskatchewan Government is not immune to the rash of recent cyber attacks.
A government spokesperson for the Wall Government says “a malicious attack is flooding our network and causing sporadic outages of the Saskatchewan.ca website and other system-related issues,” possibly due to the recent WannaCry world wide attack.
CEO of R Solutions of Regina, Richard Baker, tells 620 CKRM Source News that he’s not surprised the government was a target, but adds just about any one is susceptible to it.
“We’ve helped hundreds of customers in Saskatchewan — small businesses as well as large enterprises,” said Baker. “Everyone is susceptible. A large company has dedicated computer departments — and they have that many more things to look after.”
The government says their IT department is ensuring the security of the government’s IT and are actively using all available tools and consulting with experts.
