Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach, general manager, and vice-president of football operations Chris Jones and quarterback Kevin Glenn took part in a “state of the franchise” conference call Wednesday morning as the team gets ready for training camp which begins in under two weeks time in Saskatoon.
Glenn feels his team is capable of being a Grey Cup contender.
“Most definitely. I have a lot of confidence in myself and the coaches have a lot of confidence in me too or else they wouldn’t have brought me back to Saskatchewan.” Glenn said. Having said that, we have to go out and play. But not one guy is going to do this. It’s a team effort.
Jones was asked if he had any messages for a fan-base that is getting impatient after two years of missing the playoffs.
“We’re not going to make any bold predictions.” Jones stated. “That’s for others to do. The one promise we’ll make is that we’re going to work and do everything possible to win as many football games as possible. We’ll put our work ethic up against anybody’s.
Jones added the team has signed safety Mike Edem to a contract extension. Edem was acquired in a trade with BC earlier this month.
More on what Jones and Glenn had to say can be heard at 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon on the Sportscage.
