With what looks to be another beautiful sunny day, I thought I’d make plans to get some work done around the yard today. I started getting my plans together last night.
The first step was to borrow my neighbour’s chainsaw. My wife wants a couple of branches cut off one of our trees in the front yard and they’re a little to thick for just a hand saw, so I thought I’d pull out the heavy machinery. Mike came by after supper and dropped off his chainsaw. I’ve never used one before so I asked if there was anything I had to know. “Just don’t cut your arm off,” was his reply. “Okay, I’ll try not to,” I said weakly. He told me not to worry. His wife would be home for lunch and would peak out the living room window to see if I was lying on our front lawn with one less limb than I had when I headed off to work this morning. Now, there’s a confidence booster.
After that is done, I’ll be heading up on the roof with my leaf blower to clean out the eaves. We have a bunch of leaves on our back deck, which means the birds have been going through the leaves that have built up in the eaves looking for some food and discarding everything they don’t want. I’m not sure whether I’d be better off with a leaf blower or a pellet gun, but you didn’t hear that from me.
When that’s finished I’ll pull the lawn mower out of the shed and get to work on the lawn. This will be the third mow in less than two weeks!
Then it’ll be time to water the flowers that I planted last week. They’re looking really nice and healthy. I guess I must have a green thumb after all. I just hope I don’t cut it off with the chainsaw this afternoon!
