The Western Canada Cup is no more.
The event, which brought together the champions of the four Western Canadian Junior “A'” leagues and a host team which determined two teams for the RBC Cup, has been scrapped after five years.
It means starting next year, the champs of the SJHL will once again play the champs of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League to determine what team will go to the RBC Cup.
Those two teams will compete for the ANAVET Cup.
The Humboldt Broncos were the last team to win the Cup doing so back in 2012.
The reason for the Western Canada Cup being scrapped is the fact the host teams saw very little profit, and there was a lack of interested host sites.
