It will be the biggest Canada Day celebration Regina has seen.
At a news conference Tuesday morning, the city of Regina announced its plans for Canada 150 celebrations on Canada Day.
Mayor Michael Fougere said city will offer free transit and para-transit services on Canada Day.
“Absolutely , it’s the least that we could do, is to offer free transit and para-transit services so that people can get around easy and not worry about parking their car or truck, instead they can just jump on the bus and get to to where they want to go,” Fougere told reporters on Tuesday.
Events are planned for all over the city, aimed at including everyone, and celebrating our country’s past present and future, there will also be a “living flag” created by 1,500 people on the front lawn of the Legislative building and 20 minutes of fireworks that are expected to be spectacular.
Performances on the main stage at Wascana Centre will include Marianas Trench, The Dead South and a Pow Wow dancing demonstration from Charging Bear Performance.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders will also be hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers that evening in the team’s first home opener at the new Mosaic Stadium.
