A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory was issued mid-morning Friday for the Town of Fort Qu’Appelle and surrounding area.
SaskAlert says individuals accessing water in that area should know there was an overfeed of Potassium Permanganate in their drinking water system.
Gail Sloan is the town administrator for Fort Qu’Appelle. She tells 620 CKRM News the overfeed occurred early in the morning and residents in the area were notified about the incident immediately as well as precautionary messages sent out digitally.
“It is still safe water,” said Sloan. “It may cause some discoloration when you are washing your clothes. It may cause some discomfort to people who may have a reaction to the Potassium. The guys are in the process of flushing the water lines.”
Sloan expects the water lines to be cleared later in the day on Friday.
