Starting Monday, June 5, and running until the end of October, drivers should consider alternate routes as construction begins on twinning Prince of Wales Drive between Eastgate Drive and Dewdney Avenue East.
Work includes the construction of two new northbound lanes between Eastgate Drive and Dewdney Avenue, along with a new pedestrian/bike pathway on the east side of Prince of Wales Drive.
The pathway is part of the TransCanada Trails system and will connect to the existing pathway in Eastgate Park.
This project is expected to be complete by October 31, 2017, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect delays on Prince of Wales Drive from Eastgate Drive to Dewdney Avenue East as traffic will be restricted:
- A portion of Dewdney Avenue, east of Prince of Wales Drive, will be closed during construction. Access to Dewdney Avenue East will be available via Dakota Drive and Neville Drive.
- A three-way stop will be in place at the intersection of Prince of Wales Drive and Dewdney Avenue while the existing traffic signals are relocated. Watch for detours.
