Environment Canada has expanded their Severe Thunderstorm Watch to include areas immediately surrendering the City of Regina.
Portions of east central and southeast Saskatchewan have been in watch mode for most of Friday afternoon as a low pressure system makes it’s way across the province.
Weather advisories are also in effect for west central Saskatchewan, Environment Canada says the possibility of funnel clouds are there.
These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak land-spout tornado.
