Most people will agree, an active and vibrant downtown can only be a positive for a developing-city like Regina.
Now the numbers are there to prove it.
Economic Development Regina and the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District recently released a new study measuring the economic impact downtown has on the greater Regina area.
Alison Barton, with Economic Development Regina says vibrant and energetic downtown speaks to the status of any larger city.
“Downtown is the hub of our city,” Barton said. “Business, government, culture, entertainment — they can all be found in one central location. And it’s a function of all our city has to offer. And we should be telling that story.”
Forty-one per-cent of of Regina’s large businesses are located in the city’s downtown core.
