The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Beef drive has received a major boost.
The Stock Growers launched a beef drive last fall, asking producers to contribute an animal or donate cash to defray the cost of beef processing for Saskatchewan’s food banks.
Elanco, which provides food and health products for livestock, has announced support for the Saskatchewan Stock Grower initiative.
The support will ensure producers can donate more beef to Saskatchewan’s food banks as processing costs will not be a limiting factor.
The Stock Growers set a goal of one thousand pounds of hamburger.
But so far, the campaign has donated over 85 hundred pounds of ground beef, with a retail value of almost 48 thousand dollars.
Steve Compton, executive director Food Banks of Saskatchewan expressed gratitude for the support.
