Last week when I was looking after our granddaughter Kelcey, she told me her and her sister wanted a Fidget Spinner. A what? I didn’t know what in the world she was talking about. I’d never heard of one before. When my wife came home I told her about it and she informed me it’s the hot new toy for kids. Really? How come I’ve never seen one advertised in print or on TV?
So, I did what I always do when I want to find out about something. I went to the internet. Apparently a fidget spinner is a type of toy, whose marketers claim it relieves stress. Really? What kind of stress does an 8 year-old have to relieve? Oh well, if the girls want a fidget spinner, then the girls are going to get a fidget spinner.
I went to get gas over the weekend at my usual spot and, lo and behold, there behind the counter were fidget spinners! Wow. I didn’t have to go far to find these things. They were $12.99 each, so I added a couple of those things to my gas bill and made my way home.
When I got home I looked at these fidget spinners and still couldn’t figure out how in the world you’d play with one of these devices, let alone relieve stress with one. Maybe I’m not as hip as I thought I was!
Oh well, the girls were very happy with them, and for me, that was a nice stress reliever.
