Two children were doused with gasoline and set on fire on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band early Sunday morning, according to a release from the RCMP.
The Operations Manger with La Ronge EMS says an 8-year old boy was airlifted to Saskatoon, while an 11-year old girl was treated in La Ronge.
Their current condition is unknown.
RCMP issued a news release Tuesday which confirms this, adding the investigation indicates a third child was involved in an altercation related to this incident.
Officials say this child cannot be charged (under the Youth Criminal Justice Act) because the child is under the age of 12.
“The Child and Family Services Act has provisions that provide authority around situations like this. The Ministry of Social Services is responsible for the Child and Family Services Act,” RCMP said in a written statement.
La Ronge RCMP say they are working closely with local officials and support-agencies to ensure everyone involved is getting the support they need.
La Ronge EMS says when they responded to the call on Sunday morning it was at a home on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
