For those who like to keep track of this sort of thing, summer arrives next Tuesday at 10:23 PM. The first full day is Wednesday, which means starting Thursday, the days start getting shorter! Usually, it seems like summer takes forever to get here, but with the weather we’ve had this spring, it feels like it’s been summer for a while already.
Thank goodness for the much needed rain we’re getting this morning. I remember rolling the lawnmower out of the shed for the first time this spring. I mowed the lawn 3 times in less than two weeks. It’s been so dry since, I can’t remember the last time I fired that darn thing up!
The arrival of summer always coincides with my two week vacation, which is coming up in about a week and a half. Yippee! This year I’ll be spending a lot of that time in the backyard doing some painting and staining and I’m looking forward to every second of it.
I’m not a big fan of winter, so summer always seems to go by a little too quickly for my liking. After my vacation it’s straight into Country Thunder Saskatchewan followed by the Queen City Ex. Before you know it we’ll be right back into fall, which, by the way, arrives Sept. 22 at 2:01 PM.
I can’t believe it. It’s not even summer and I’m already talking about fall.
What a Gloomy Gus!
