The fatal crash and evading police incident Monday began when keys were left inside a truck that was stolen.
Saskatoon Police Chief Clive Weighill says patrol officers first spotted the truck at Avenue D North and 33rd Street.
The Air Support Unit tracked it to Clearwater Place and police thought it was a good time to take three suspects into custody.
Two men got back into the truck and backed into a patrol car before fleeing.
The Air Support Unit tracked the truck to Idylwyld Drive and Circle Drive.
When the driver spotted patrol cars, he sped up to as much as 155 km/h before slamming head on into a truck turning left onto Airport Drive.
The 22 year old man driving the stolen truck died at the scene. The police officer in the patrol car, the driver in the other vehicle in the head on crash and the passenger in the stolen truck were all treated in hospital and released.
The passenger is facing a number of charges.
