Well, day one is in the books for Canada’s Farm Progress Show. I had a great time at Warner Industries with Karlie, Greg, Geordon, John, and Mike. It was beautiful, but boy was it windy! Thanks, Captain Obvious!
Flags were flapping everywhere yesterday and in one case, actually coming down. I was outdoors for my broadcast, and like all of the other outdoor exhibitors, Warner Industries was proudly flying it’s flags. There was one flag that was flying from a pole that must have been 10 feet tall. It was anchored with a couple of heavy boxes, but with the wind, it was really only a matter of time before it came down, and down it did come. With a thud.
I was in the middle of a broadcast when this heavy flag pole came crashing down right in front of our broadcast location. It missed us by a couple of feet. All I could think of was how happy I was that we weren’t set up two feet ahead of where we were. That baby could have done some serious damage. As it was, we all had a chuckle and set the darn thing back up again.
The wind aside, it was a beautiful day to be outdoors. Lots of sun, lots of people, and for a while, not a cloud in sight! That was as close to a perfect day as one could hope for to open up the show.
It looks to be another windy day today and I’m back at Warner Industries again. I’ve got everything I need. I’ve even taking something with me today that I didn’t even thing of taking along yesterday…a helmet!
