Darian Durant is expected to start at Quarterback against his old team Thursday
The CFL season opens tonight with the Riders in Montreal as Darian Durant plays the first game against his old team with the same being said for Rider receiver Duron Carter.
Speaking with reporters, Durant said there has been one big difference so far between being a Rider and Alouette.
“When you play in Saskatchewan the whole province is about football, you’re easily recognizable, here (Montreal) there is so much going on it makes it easier to walk around and just be yourself,” Durant said.
The game also marks the return of offensive lineman Brendon Labatte.
The Weyburn native missed most of last season after a neck injury, but he was given the all-clear to continue his career.
Labatte says he doesn’t even want to think about another injury happening, and is looking forward to getting back out there and doing what he does best.
“I think it’s almost law of attraction if you’re going to think about that sort of stuff that’s what is going to come find you. You got to go out there and just play the game the way you know how to play it. You can’t be apprehensive or cautious at all out there, that’s when the stuff finds you for sure,” Labatte said.
620 CKRM’s game day coverage starts at 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, with kickoff at 5:30 p.m.
