The NHL Draft goes in Chicago this weekend with Round 1 happening Friday and the rest going Saturday.
While Regina Pat forwards Nick Henry and Jake Leschyshyn won’t get their name called in the first round, both are expecting to hear their names get announced Saturday in anywhere from the late 2nd round to the mid 4th round.
Leschyshyn will be in Chicago, but Henry won’t be as he is staying behind in his hometown of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to attend his high school graduation. He says it may be a sleepless night Friday and an anxious wait Saturday waiting for the phone to ring, but at the end of the day he is just hoping to get that call and begin a new chapter in his hockey career.
The 18 year old, who in his rookie season with Regina had 81 points, says there will be many emotions going through his mind when that call comes, and he says he will be thinking of his father because he has seen such a big influence in his hockey career and the decisions he has made.
Henry was the 25th ranked North American skater in the final Central Scouting rankings while Leschyshyn was ranked 42nd after a season cut short due to a knee injury where he had 40 points in 47 games.
