Day two has come and gone at Canada’s Farm Progress Show and aside from the wind it was the polar opposite of the day before. With the rain we had all day, I ended up broadcasting from inside the back of a trailer. It was still a little cool, but at least it was dry. The only times I got wet were on my trips from the trailer to the Co-operators Centre to use the washroom. At least the walk to the Co-operators Centre was quick, but things got bogged down once I got inside.
One of my pet peeves about any crowd is the people that walk slower than slow. I always seem to get behind these people and there were a lot of them at the Farm Progress Show. The trouble was, there were so many people walking slowly it was tough finding a seam to break through to race to the front of the pack, and then, once I got to the front of that pack, I was suddenly at the back of another. It never ended. I guess if I was a little more patient it wouldn’t have mattered, and really, in the end, it doesn’t matter!
Today is my last day broadcasting at the show with the great people at Warner Industries. Warner bills itself as the home of “Fun, Friendly People.” Anyone who has ever dealt with Warner Industries knows this isn’t just a motto, it’s the absolute truth. Everyone I have ever worked with at Warner fits that bill to a tee. They’re very friendly and they’re always smiling. It’s a great business model for how to succeed. They obviously have a terrific vetting process in place when it comes to hiring employees, because I’ve never come across an employee that I would label a “dud.”
After today it’s time for some fun and sun. The jeans will be going into the drawer to be replaced by shorts and sandals. It’s vacation time. I’ll be back just in time for Country Thunder Saskatchewan.
I just hope my vacation moves as slowly as the people do at the Farm Progress Show!
