A gunshot wound neither caused nor contributed to the death of a 22 year old man in Saskatoon who had been evading police last Monday night.
This statement comes from the Office of the Chief Coroner after a forensic autopsy.
On June 19th, patrol officers noticed a stolen vehicle which the Air Support Unit was able to track until it stopped at Clearwater Place, with police witnessing 2 males and a female getting out.
When officers arrived to take them into custody, the 2 males immediately got back into the truck and rammed a police cruiser while fleeing the area.
The ASU continued to track the vehicle, and police say when the driver spotted patrol cars,he sped up to as much as 155 km/h before slamming head on into a truck turining left onto Airport Drive.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, Austin Eaglechief, died at the scene, while the passenger and the other driver were treated in hospital and released.
An officer in the vehicle that had been rammed at Clearwater Place was also treated and released.
