Regina City Council pushed back the decision to use up about a quarter of a million dollars in funding to help upgrade the Brandt Centre ahead of next years Mastercard Memorial Cup.
Mayor Michael Fougere said its a case of the city getting all its ducks in a row before committing to the full price.
“There is not really a delay as much as to look at the entire ask completely, because we do have a capital ask that will be coming forward shortly. So I think in fairness lets look at the whole process completely, the operating side if you will for the bid itself and then the capital side after,” Fougere told reporters Monday night.
Regina last hosted the cup in 2001, it was last in Saskatchewan when hosted by the Saskatoon Blades in 2013.
